Tiny Weddings

Everything is getting smaller; tiny homes, smaller phones, gourmet meals consisting of just a bite or two. Our world and our lives are on a trend to downsize and with good reason, with inflation on the rise, life's luxuries have needed to take on a smaller form. Its no wonder that our weddings are getting smaller too. Opulent and indulgent weddings of the past are becoming smaller intimate affairs consisting of guests who have had the biggest impact on our lives.

Some may mourn those over-the-top weddings of the 80s and 90s but personally, I am overjoyed by these small, intimate weddings.

The average number of wedding guests in the 80s and 90s ranged from 115-140 versus today at 100-115 guests on average. We are seeing a trend of much smaller weddings in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region consisting of 40-75 guests. According to "The Knot", the average cost per wedding guest in 2023 is $304. The average cost for a wedding consisting of 115 guests would cost approximately $35,000! Cutting that number down to accommodate our closest family and friends not only gives a more intimate feeling but also opens your budget to splurge a little on those guests. Get the fancier tablecloths, order the prime rib instead of the pasta bar, with the cost savings of a small wedding, you can afford to truly have a remarkable event.

If your goal is just to be able to have a wedding in the first place, a small wedding will allow you those precious memories on a budget. Invite those special people, get great photos, and have some fun to celebrate. The memories you make at your intimate affair will be cherished a lifetime.

If you want a small wedding, go for it! Don't be intimidated by weddings of the past or by relatives or friends that feel you need to have the bash of the century. In the end, it is your wedding, your budget, and your day.
